E Coli Beach

Once upon a time, I was a girl in Western Wisconsin. That part of Wisconsin is not really known for its amazing beaches, but there were a few that had sand, and people would flock to them in the summer.

My dad used to take my siblings, me, and our friends to the beach a couple times during the summer.

One day we got there, and nobody was there.  It was a beautiful day, and the water looked fine! There were dead and dying fish all over the sand, but whatever, right?!

We went swimming. We also had a disgusting dead and dying fish fight. I remember tucking extra “ammo” into my swimsuit.

Later, we found out the beach was closed because of high levels of e coli contamination.
